    Position Summary:
    Provides effective therapy treatment or diagnostics of patients and clinical instruction. Evaluates and/or treats patients; plans therapy programs, treatment plans, goals and frequency of treatment, and modifies treatment plans as necessary and/or develops in-service programs for clinical instruction; and oversees application of clinical techniques by occupational therapy assistants and students. 

    Education/Experience:
    Graduation from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy.

    Licensing/Certification Requirements:
    Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Valid License by the State of Nevada as an Occupational Therapist. For new grads a Provisional License is required and work will be monitored and supervised by a Licensed Therapist. A valid State of Nevada license as an Occupational Therapist, must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Failure to obtain and/or maintain licensure will result in termination of employment.

    Age Specific Requirements:
    Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to assess the needs of and provide services appropriate to the age of the patient/client served on the assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.

    ** Must be an OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST to be considered for this Position **


    Preferred:
    • Minimum of three (3) years Recent Experience in a fast paced Acute Care Facility;
    • ABA Certified (American Burn Certification) a plus;
    • Pediatric and/or NICU experience a plus

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
    Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting, including stamina to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, and strength to examine and treat patients; vision to use standard equipment and read printed materials including a VDT screen; and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Due to program success and expansion, the Department of Occupational Therapy at Touro University Nevada invites qualified individuals to apply for a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenured faculty position. 

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. A minimum of three years experience in the field of occupational therapy;
    2. An earned OTD, PhD, or EdD from an accredited institution of higher education; 
    3. Initial NBCOT certification; and,
    4. Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Nevada 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical proficiency across the lifespan, effective teaching practices and the ability to mentor students through directed clinical community outreach or program development projects. In addition, successful candidates will possess strong written and interprofessional skills as well as the ability to complement and expand on existing departmental expertise.
