    Duties and Responsibilities

    ·         Monitor legislative process

    ·         Assist with communication and outreach efforts to membership, public, policy makers and 

              administrators

    ·         Assist/plan events that engage members in building relationships with our representatives

    ·         Assist with educating others about legislative process

    ·         Develop content for social media, press releases, website, and other publications

    ·         Research policy issues

    ·         Study and reflect on various leaders and leadership styles

    Skills and Qualifications

    ·         No legislative or advocacy experience necessary, however applicants must have a strong 

              interest in developing knowledge and skills in this area

    ·         Exhibit polite and professional decorum and language in all correspondence

    ·         Be able to keep self and others organized

    ·         Be creative and comfortable with simple graphic design and websites like Canva. 

    ·         Be able to complete items by deadlines  

    ·         Be able to stay mission-focused and keep personal political ideologies separate  

    ·         Must have valid driver’s license/insurance/transport to/from events when applicable

    ·         Knowledge of appropriate software including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, 

              Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and other similar programs

    ·         Must be a NOTA Member

    Compensation/Benefits:  This is a year long position, anticipated time commitment is 2 hrs/week, more during periods of calls to action or events.  No academic credit is available.  Stipend of $200 total plus possible visit, travel expenses covered, to Carson City during Nevada legislative session in 2021. Intern will work closely with NOTA Board Officers and Chairpersons to gain team, leadership, and non-profit management skills. Interns will also learn about state and federal-level influences on practice.

    NOTA is looking for a current OTR/OTA student to work as a contracted Communication Coordinator! 

    Duties and Responsibilities

    ·         Schedule meetings, appointments, events

    ·         Write and edit documents such as emails, reports, or other correspondence

    ·         Create infographics, flyers, social media posts  

    ·         Maintain electronic filing system

    ·         Attend board and committee meetings as assigned

    ·         Provide support to board related to mission

Contractors will also learn about state-level influences on practice.
