The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)reports to the Lead Occupational Therapist. The OTA will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to support individuals with mental health challenges, promoting their independence and enhancing their quality of life through therapeutic interventions in a spectrum of settings including partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our team in a higher level of care mental health facility in Nevada. The OTA will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to support individuals with mental health challenges, promoting their independence and enhancing their quality of life through therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the collection of data in preparation for the supervising occupational therapist to complete an evaluation and develop a plan of care.

Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising occupational therapist.

Conduct evidence-based therapeutic activities and interventions that focus on improving patients' occupational engagement.

Monitor and document patients' progress and response to treatment, reporting any changes to the supervising occupational therapist.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, psychotherapists, nutritionist, and medical staff, to provide comprehensive care.

Prepare a weekly progress report and attend interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care for each client.

Educate clients and their families on strategies to manage daily activities and improve occupational engagement.

Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in occupational therapy and mental health to meet Nevada State Licensure requirements.

Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for clients.

Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling, documentation, and maintaining therapy equipment.

Maintain 30 billable hours per week.

Provide accurate, timely documentation of occupational therapy services.

Maintain clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and policies of Thrive Wellness of Reno.

Participate in bi-monthly staff meetings; attend staff training.

Use professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice.

Qualifications:

Minimum of an associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.

Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and state licensure to practice in Nevada.

Current Basic Life Support certification in accordance with Nevada state regulations

A minimum of one year’s work experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant

Previous experience with and/or knowledge of varying mental health conditions preferred

Requirements:

Must pass a federal background check at hire and every 3 years.

Must adhere to a drug-free workplace.

Demonstrate maturity of judgment, attitude, and life skills.

Must demonstrate an ability to adapt to change and remain flexible.

Must be a strong team player that works well in a busy environment.

Must have strong communication skills and be upbeat, positive, and professional when interacting with clients, providers, and fellow co-workers.

Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively prioritize and manage your time unsupervised & independently.

Pay: $30-40/hr based on experience and credentials
