Session Objectives:

-Recognize the positive impact NCEP has on its clients through a client-centered approach to brain injury rehabilitation.

-Recall 3 evidence-based interventions for brain injury rehabilitation that can be utilized by occupational therapists.

-Understand the referral process for NCEP and how to get clients who may benefit into the NCEP program

This course will cover an overview of the latest evidence-based research on brain injury rehabilitation, a virtual tour of the NCEP day program facility, previous successful client testimonials, and how to begin the referral process to NCEP for future clients who may benefit from the specialized services provided at NCEP. This will be an informative session for OT practitioners and will highlight the success clients have with attending an intensive day program specializing in brain injuries. This course will help OT practitioners familiarize themselves with ways to develop an evidence-based approach to neurological rehabilitation.

Speaker bios:

Jonathan Tso is an OTD student at Touro University Nevada completing his capstone experience at Nevada Community Enrichment Program (NCEP) focused on improving the health and wellness aspects of their program.

Eric Rutsky is an occupational therapist who specializes in brain injury rehab. Eric took over the occupational therapy department at NCEP in 2017. He uses evidence-based research to drive program development and strongly believes in the importance of holistic, client-centered, and interdisciplinary care to increase the overall well-being and occupational performance within the NCEP population.
