    Looking to hire an OTR or a COTA for in-home pediatric occupational therapy services. In desperate need of some after school hours and some assistance in rural areas (travel compensation will be provided). I am a new business and starting expansion. There is a clinic setting to utilize in the rural areas to help cut down on the travel required. I am open to contract negotiations.

    The University of the Pacific Occupational Therapy Department has a goal of creating a dedicated team of educators capable of engaging and encouraging our students to successfully explore and interpret the diverse perspectives of the communities we serve.

    Our program welcomes qualified candidates with demonstrated success in working with diverse populations to apply for a fulltime, core-faculty, 11-month, non-tenure track Doctoral Capstone Coordinator faculty position for its entry-level Doctorate in Occupational Therapy program, which is housed and delivered on the Sacramento campus.

    Qualified applicants will ensure academic quality and develop course content from an occupational perspective and delivery in a positive educational environment. The successful applicant is expected to establish a collaborative scholarship agenda as well as contribute to graduate mentoring that supports diversity and inclusion efforts.

    The doctoral capstone coordinator will:

    ·        Work closely with the student and the faculty advisor and a community advisor in developing an individual plan to integrate new knowledge gained in OTD courses into their project. 
    ·        Implement a project that is mutually beneficial to the community setting and the advancement of the profession.
    ·       This is a faculty position with teaching, scholarship, advisement, and service responsibilities in addition to the administration of clinical education (50% administration/release time)
    ·        Formulate a plan that is designed to be more programmatic rather than an intervention plan that will be done on Fieldwork Level II.
    ·        Through the Capstone project, the student will demonstrate his/her understanding of advanced Occupational Therapy concepts and the ability to demonstrate leadership and knowledge and ethical practice at the highest level.
    ·        The capstone provides the student with an opportunity to demonstrate knowledge translation as an innovative leader, scholar, and practitioner at the doctoral level.
    ·        The Doctoral Experiential Internship must be completed within a setting that supports the fulfillment of the capstone project within the setting engaging in activities related to the focus of the project.

    Minimum Qualifications

    ·        Post-professional doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body.
    ·        Initially certified occupational therapist and licensed or eligible for license by the California Board for Occupational Therapy
    ·        Two years of clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist.
    ·        Documented experience in an area of teaching responsibility and knowledge of content delivery method (e.g. documentation of continuing professional development, relevant experience, faculty development plan reflecting acquisition of new content, incorporation of feedback from course evaluations).
    ·        Expertise necessary to ensure appropriate curriculum design, content delivery, and program evaluation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    ·        Experience as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and/or Doctoral Capstone Coordinator.
    ·        Experience with curriculum design, content delivery, and program evaluation.
    ·        Projects professionalism for the University in all communication and interaction.
    ·        Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of sensitive data.
    ·        Ability to prioritize and organize numerous and varied assignments.

    Responsibilities
    Flexibility to schedule your own visits (Yes, you can work other jobs/PRNs along with this job!) as long as the established frequency (typically 1-2x a month 45-minute home visit) for each client is met within each month within the client's natural environment (home, daycare/school, community park, grocery store, etc.), parent/family education and coaching model, complete ongoing assessments/re-evals using pediatric assessments (Peabody, DAYC-2, HELP, etc. we can train you, if you haven't had experience using them), established family-centered goals (STG/LTG) and strategies to embed within natural and daily routines for the child and family, and user-friendly electronic documentation/EMR and charting system.

    Qualifications
    Previous experience in pediatrics is preferred but not required. Active Nevada OT/PT license, must complete background check (paid by company). Please submit a professional curriculum vitae.

    Additional Information
    This is a 1099 contractor position (initially), however there is also room to grow into part-time and full-time salary positions with benefits.     Position Summary

    The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator is a faculty appointment in the Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program who has administrative reassigned time to coordinate doctoral capstone placements for students in Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program. The faculty member also advises and teaches in the Occupational Therapy Program. Reporting to the Director of Occupational Therapy, the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator is a full participant in the success and fulfillment of the entry-level Occupational Therapy doctorate program. Qualified candidates should have experience in the design and coordination of experience in the design and coordination of student evidence-based projects and research.

    Core Responsibilities

    The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator candidate will be responsible for compliance with ACOTE capstone requirements in standards section D.1.0, including but not limited to: (1) the doctoral capstone reflecting curriculum design and program development, (2) designing of doctoral capstone in conjunction with the student, content expert, and faculty, (3) preparing for doctoral capstone project via teach in classes, online, and hybrid capstone preparation, (4) negotiating, securing, maintaining and implementing site contract and MOU and for doctoral capstone experience, (5) ensuring consistency in rigor and length of doctoral capstone experience, (6) coordinating and mentoring students, and faculty for doctoral capstone, (7) evaluating doctoral capstone experiences, and 8) ensuring completion and dissemination doctoral capstone projects.

    OTHER OPPORTUNITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Specific assignments are dependent upon program needs and may involve teaching or co-teach additional classes within the individual’s subject matter expertise. Candidates must be committed to transformational student-centered education and community practice, as well as working supportively with faculty and staff in the program, college, and university.

    DUTIES DIRECTLY RELATED TO ROLE INCLUDE:

    • Guides curriculum design, planning, and ensures implementation, and outcome measures related to the Doctoral Capstone component that promote in-depth knowledge, reflective reasoning, theory use, evidence-based practice, skill development and ethical practice in area of interest.

    • Guides the design of doctoral capstone in collaboration with the student, organization, patient population, content expert, and faculty in setting(s) consistent with the program’s curriculum design, including individualized specific objectives and plans for supervision.

    • Ensures preparation for doctoral capstone experience and project via teaching online and hybrid preparation for conducting literature review, needs assessment, goals/objectives, and an evaluation planning.

    • Negotiates, secures, maintains and implements valid site contracts and MOUs for understanding the doctoral capstone experience, individualized specific objectives, plans for supervision and mentoring, and responsibilities.

    • Ensures consistency in rigor and length among all doctoral capstone experiences and projects.

    • Coordinates, mentors and communicates directly with students and an individual with expertise consistent with the student’s area of focus prior to the onset of the doctoral capstone experience.

    • Evaluates and documents using a formative and summative evaluation mechanism for objective assessment of the student’s performance during and completion of the doctoral capstone experience.

    • Ensures completion and dissemination doctoral capstone projects demonstrating synthesis of in-depth knowledge in the focused area of study.

    • Supervise, mentor and communicates directly with students to establish high quality Doctoral Capstone experience and project and integrated curricular experience.

    • Establishes, communicates, and enforces Doctoral Capstone policies and procedures.

    • Collaborate and coordinate with students, clinical experts, and faculty to evaluate student performance and assigns grades for all Doctoral Capstone courses.

    • Assists with recruitment of highly qualified clinical experts, supervisors and organizations who represent diverse, quality practices and diverse populations.

    • Manages fiscal resources associated with the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator education program, under the supervision of the OT Program Director.

    • Guides strategic planning related to Doctoral Capstone experiences and projects.

    • Teaches or co-teaches didactic courses related to his/her areas of expertise.

    • Establishes and implements a personal scholarly agenda.

    • Promotes and supports faculty and staff professional development, especially as it relates to Doctoral Capstone experiences and projects.

    • Serves on assigned committees and participates in university governance.

    • Promotes departmental involvement and service within the community.

    • Supports and helps plan collaborative and inter-professional education and service activities among faculty and students within the university and local community.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Earned clinical or post-professional doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy or related field required; academic research degree preferred (OTD, DrOT, DSc, EdD, ScD, or PhD)

    • Occupational Therapist with NBCOT certification

    • Licensed and eligible to practice occupational therapy in the State of Washington

    • Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist.

    • Evidence of advanced credentials or expertise in an area of occupational therapy practice is preferred

    • Demonstrated growth in cultural competence, awareness of societal and structural inequities and proven experience in effectively establishing relationships and positive communications with students and other constituents across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, varying abilities, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, class, or religious perspectives

    TEACHING AND FACILITATION OF LEARNING:                        

    It is the responsibility of the faculty to teach courses in the occupational therapy curriculum in accordance with the approved course descriptions, learning objectives, and evaluative processes of the College of Health Sciences programs.  Such teaching responsibility includes conducting class sessions and designing learning activities that will lead to student mastery and success in their professional and personal development.  While the faculty member’s primary responsibilities are to plan, develop, and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning, this role also encompasses the general areas of academic advising and student development.  Participation in activities and continuing education opportunities to ensure and maintain currency in one’s course content areas is required.  Participation in curricular activities such as colloquia, seminars, and curriculum development is also expected.  While teaching and student-related activities are primary, additional responsibilities include personal, scholarly, and professional development, and both institutional and community service.

    Teaching -- Essential Job Functions:

    1. Teach assigned courses in accordance with the course syllabus and College policy.
    2. Develop and use a syllabus for each course consistent with the guidelines of the College and the Occupational Therapy Program.
    3. Demonstrate skill and knowledge in teaching content pertinent to occupational therapy practice and science.
    4. Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods in order to maintain currency and relevance.

    SCHOLARSHIP:

    Pursue on an ongoing basis the continuance of scholarly growth in the academic profession.  Engage in scholarly/creative activity and make results available for critical peer review.  Examples may include but are not limited to development of experimental programs; delivering papers at professional association meetings at regional and national levels; regional and national awards, holding office in professional organizations; participating in panels at regional and national meetings of professional organizations; grants acquisitions; editorship of professional journals; participation in juried shows; program related projects; consulting; research project and publication record; additional graduate work; and contributing to the scholarly growth of one's peers.  Mentoring of student research projects consistent with course administration and teaching is also considered to be part of both teaching and scholarship responsibilities.  Each faculty’s scholarship will be considered on an individual basis and will be dependent upon his or her research agenda.  Such research agenda will encompass a strategic, long-term plan with obtainable steps toward accomplishment of select research outcomes and dissemination of new knowledge and application relevant to the profession of occupational therapy.

    INSTITUTIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE

    1. Participate in scheduled institutional service activities which include student orientation and commencement exercises.
    2. Provide advice and/or assistance to students regarding instructional or program-specific issues.
    3. Actively participate in Program, College, or University meetings and committee meetings.
    4. Participate in College- and Program-related activities such as community education, health career fairs, recruitment of students, student activities, and special programs.
    5. Actively participate in activities required to maintain Program accreditation standards.

    1. Full-time faculty must hold a master’s or doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by USDE–recognized regional accrediting body.
    2. Experience working with OT students in a classroom/ fieldwork setting
    3. A record of sustained professional leadership and professional service
    4. Thorough knowledge of:
      1. Occupational therapy content in areas of teaching responsibility.
      2. Knowledge of learning theory – motivational, perceptual, and emotional forces present in the learning process and the conditions which affect individual and group learning and change.
      3. Knowledge of theories of leadership – alternative techniques and styles for guiding, motivating, and directing individuals under various situational conditions to achieve effective performance.
      4. Knowledge of current development in related fields of specialization with the ability to keep current with new developments in education and practice.
    5. Maintain required continuing education credits required to maintain licensure and certification according to state and national guidelines.  Continuing education credits should include updates in area of clinical expertise as well as educational and research areas.
    6. Skills and ability to use current technology.
    7. Ability to contribute and present innovative ideas for new curricula and programs that combine traditional and nontraditional dimensions of “best practice”.
    8. Demonstrate consideration and respect for others (i.e., students, peers, colleagues).
    9. Ability to manage time effectively in professional and scholarly responsibilities.
    10. Ability to clearly and effectively present ideas in written, oral, and discussion formats.
    11. Ability to meet deadlines for reports and other required paperwork.
    12. Ability to present a positive and professional image when representing the Program and the College.
    13. Ability to safeguard confidential information from intentional or unintentional disclosure.
    14. Residence in Arizona is required, and in person teaching is a requirement.
