Topic/ Title of Presentation:  

“What’s new in Low Vision Therapy”

Objectives:

1. Attendees will learn basic OT low vision diagnoses and their presentation

2. Attendees will learn to use newest low vision aids available to complete tasks requiring near, intermediate and distance vision

3. Attendees will learn when to refer patients with low vision conditions

Speaker Biography:

Sandy Yesnick graduated from Concordia University in Wisconsin in 2000. While in graduate school, Sandy focused on low vision therapy as her main research paper before graduation. After graduation, Sandy worked in rehab, acute settings, NICU and home health settings. Sandy opened her own practice in low vision in 2003 and in 2007 joined her practice with her optometrist husband, Dr. David Yesnick. Together, they are known as “The Yesnicks” by referring ophthalmologists, optometrists, retina specialists, neuro ophthalmologists, and many other providers, including those who refer to the Yesnick Team from out of State and even out of the Country. Sandy has expanded low vision therapy as the only low vision practice in Nevada that offers full service low vision optometry, optical, OT and behind-the-wheel training by specially trained and DMV certified driving instructors. Sandy provides low vision therapy to the largest Charter School in Nevada, she consistently participates as guess speaker for continuing education to NV Optometric Association, NV Paratransit and other State and Private settings.
